About the Author
Valerie Bosselman is native Nebraskan and mother of two. Her son Ryan is now a grown-up and has a real job doing something with his brilliant math brain. He is handsome, charming, and appears to be almost an entire foot taller than his mom. He thoughtfully looks out for her and fixes all the t.v. remotes when Valerie messes them up. Ryan is also smart enough to live just far enough away from home so Valerie can not drop in unannounced.
Daughter Megan Bosselman died of adrenal cortical cancer on Easter Sunday, 2008 and rests in eternity with the Lord. With passion, Valerie blogs about Megan’s journey through cancer and the raw and real experiences in the life and the death of a child. Her heart and her writing are geared toward the trials of being a caregiver, and the agony shared with any parent that has lost a child. Presently Valerie is working on a book “Put Up Your Umbrella – Finding Shelter in the Storm of Cancer.” However, even if her book lands her a seat on a final episode of Oprah on her OWN cable station, Megan and Ryan will always be her greatest joy and accomplishment.
Through humor, laced with stories of her own human failings, Valerie strives to connect to the real core of humanity…even to those who have not suffered extreme personal loss. It is her hope that as she dialogues about every day life that the reader will laugh a little more, cry without apology, and hold their loved ones a bit closer.
At the end of the day, the author makes no claim that her opinion is absolute truth. Through pop bottle thick lenses that she has worn since third grade, it’s just the world as she sees it….

Hi Val,

Val,
I too just discovered your blog. I always knew of you many talents and humor but… your writing skills are da bomb!!!
You are so very talented and I cannot begin to imagine all that will be impacted by your writings. Hope to see you soon!!
Valerie- I met you and your precious daughter only once- at Julie Jensen’s shower. I was impressed by your love for each other which was very evident. I remember a beautiful mirror in her room that I think you had made for her and all the beautiful jewelry she had created. I have been very touched by your writings and how you are making something very real and transparent to share with others who might be struggling. Bless you as you bless others. You really have a gift.
